John H. Shaffer -- April 02, 1927 - June 24, 2019

Our law firm is saddened by the passing of our longtime colleague and friend, John H. Shaffer.

Mr. Shaffer practiced law in Hutchinson for more than sixty years, most recently with the firm of Martindell, Swearer, Shaffer Ridenour LLP, a firm resulting from a merger in 1990 of the firm of Weinlood, Cole, Shaffer, Lee & Meisenheimer with Martindell, Swearer, Cabbage, Ricksecker & Hertach. 

Mr. Shaffer was a member of the American Bar Association and the Kansas Bar Association as well as the Reno County Bar Association and regularly volunteered his professional services to assist senior citizens through the Kansas Elder Law Hotline and at the Delos V. Smith Senior Citizens Center.  During his long life and career, Mr. Shaffer was active in his community and served on numerous civic organization boards including the Junior Chamber of Commerce, the YMCA, Hutchinson Community College, HCC's Paralegal Program Advisory Board, and the College's Endowment Association and as a Trustee of the Delos V. Smith Senior Citizens Foundation.

Mr. Shaffer's life and professional practice were distinguished by his integrity, good humor and, perhaps most importantly, by his civility and commitment to the highest ideals of his chosen profession.  Mr. Shaffer was a true gentleman and will be greatly missed.
